I feel sad for Zidane and all those who wanted him to win and make good for French racial harmony. Viciously headbutting a taunting Matterazzi in front of a billion people. I hope this doesn't cause a new outbreak of racial riots.

Some of the gloating Italian players took their shorts off after their victory run around the pitch. Who wants to see sweaty tidy whities under that Azzurri uniform. Just yuk.

So the World Cup ends for me in a unsettling way with no joy for the winners. I just have a small taste of their bitterness of defeat as I find myself sighing and shaking my head.
