Eliot Title Character

Most days I do a cross world puzzle on the BART ride home. Half done, C picks it up and finishes it with relish mumbling something about how I got a corner all wrong. 14 across on his second puzzle was "Eliot Title Character", 8 letters. I confidently shouted "PRUFROCK. That's totally PRUFROCK" to which C wouldn't budge. He finally put it down and then told me I was all wrong. ADAMBEDE I shouted again. He told me I'd better be right this time.
